Malta International Airport (MLA): Approximate driving time to the Hotel Bernard is 15 minutes and distance is 8 kilometres (5 miles).
Getting there: A fixed rate taxi service operates from the airport to towns all over the island. Fares are: MTL 6 to the capital Valletta, MTL 8 to St Julians, Sliema, and Attard and MTL 10 to Bugibba and Qawra. A taxi desk is located in the Arrivals’ hall where pre-paid tickets may be purchased. Alternatively, the number 8 bus departs from the airport every 20 minutes to the main bus terminus in Valletta. Visitors travelling to Gozo should take a taxi to the port and then a ferry or catamaran to the island. The journey takes around 30 minutes. Malta Airport also has a heliport for helicopter transfers to Gozo. All prices subject to change.
Driving directions: From the airport, follow signs to Luqa, Marsa, Hamrun, and Valletta. On approaching Valletta follow signs to Pieta, Gzira, Sliema, and St Julians. The Hotel Bernard is situated on St George's Bay.
Getting around: Malta has a network of buses connecting the main resorts. A one-day bus ticket for unlimited travel costs MTL 1.50. A car is useful for exploring the less touristy areas of the island. Gozo can be explored on foot, by bicycle, or using the island’s network of buses which all depart from the main terminal in Victoria. There are ferries and high-speed catamaran services from Gozo to Malta (Valletta).
