Malta International Airport (MLA): Approximate driving time to Grand Hotel Excelsior is 20 minutes and distance is 7 kilometres (4 miles).
Getting there: A fixed rate taxi service operates from the airport to towns all over the island. Fares are: 6 to the capital Valletta, 8 to St Julians, Sliema and Attard and 10 to Bugibba and Qawra. A taxi desk is located in the Arrivals hall where pre-paid tickets may be purchased. Alternatively, the number 8 bus departs from the airport every 20 minutes to the main bus terminus in Valletta. All prices subject to change.
Getting around: Malta has a network of buses connecting the main resorts. A one-day bus ticket for unlimited travel costs 1.50. A car is useful for exploring the less touristy areas of the island.
Driving directions: From the airport, go straight across the roundabout and follow signs for Valletta. Turn right at the second roundabout and left at the third. At the bottom of the hill, turn left and then right onto the main road. Drive north towards Valletta, passing through Portes des Bombes, on towards Floriana and then towards Marsamxett Harbour. The hotel is on the left on the way down to the harbour.
